the theory of BURBERRY

Here is the classical Burberry pattern.

Color used:
background - khaki,
strips -black, beige, deep red

We can see that the pattern is form by a basic background color, khaki, with the strip of different color: black, white and deep red. In this picture, we can also see that it use different color's strips to form the square pattern.

In this pattern, the khaki and deep red color seems is the tertiary color. With the achromatic color of black and white. Also, both black and white color has changed in a lower value; black, white & deep red are not too high in saturation. Actually, i think this pattern's colors are dull. And the background color, khaki is the complementary color one of the strip's color, deep red.

Sometimes, Burberry may use the monochromatic arrangement.
This handkerchieft's pattern is the same as the other burberry's product. But the colour theory used is not the same as the above.

Colour used:
background - purple,
strips -purple, white, beige

It uses purple for the background and changed the background color's (purple) value, more ligher for 1 of the strips ( the monochromatic arrangement ). And the other 2 strips are white & beige, also the monochromatic arrangement.

So, i think that the principle is using a background color with it's complementary color for 1 of the strips OR the monochromatic color of the background with 1 of the strips. And the white color seems will be appear in all of the design, with different value. (so may appear in beige)
